  • Early Surge: As of early April 2026, Australia has already recorded 24,800 laboratory-confirmed cases. This unusually high early-season activity follows 2025’s "horror year," where 502,972 cases were recorded.  

  • The 2026 Update: The 2026 vaccine has been specifically updated with two new strains for Influenza A (H1N1) and Influenza A (H3N2) to provide the best possible protection against current circulating viruses.  

  • A National Priority: Health experts are urging high uptake this year, as 2025 saw a tragic 1,738 influenza-related deaths—many of which were associated with the H3N2 strain now circulating.
